Survivors of gender-based violence know the guidance will do nothing to protect women.Our assailants are almost always cis men, often already known to us.Send our video to your MP, urging them to stand up for their trans constituents and to sign Nadia Whittome's EDM 240.
How to Write to Your MP1. State the subject clearly in the subject line (e.g. Women Survivors Say No to EHRC Code of Practice, Sign EDM 240)2. We need MP's eyes on our video! Please use your own words when writing to your MP - this is much more effective.We suggest including three points:👉 State your disappointment at the new EHRC Services Code of Practice👉 Ask your MP to stand up for their trans constituents👉 Ask them to sign the EDM 240. You can copy and paste this:"Please sign EDM 240 to reject the Code of Practice. Unlike many EDMs that simply express support or an opinion, EDM 240 acts as a ‘fatal prayer motion’, and is the correct and only way for MPs to formally object to the Code of Practice during the 40 day scrutiny period.
